Military Wish List Fulfilled

From November 30 to December 3, the Lower Division community at Academy at the Lakes came together to help fulfill a wish list compiled by some of our military personnel who will not be home for the holidays. Students made holiday cards and brought in a variety of supplies that included food and toiletries. The generosity of our families was evident by the number of boxes that we filled in four days. Over 100 pounds of supplies went overseas to our dedicated service men and women. On December 16, two officers from MacDill Air Force Base, Col. Maldonado and SMSgt. Clark, presented Lower Division Director, Annie Kapetanis, with a certificate of thanks and expressed their heartfelt gratitude to all the students and parents. Following the presentation, Col. Maldonado and SMSgt. Clark joined the Lower Division for a special holiday assembly where children learned about different holidays celebrated throughout the world and sang songs that filled us all with good cheer.
