NEW TAMPA — The Academy at the Lakes softball team ended a record season for Seacrest Country Day with a dominating performance in Thursday’s Class 2A region semifinal. The Wildcats shut out the Stingrays 15-0 to set up a rematch with St. Petersburg-Canterbury in next Tuesday’s region final.
AATL, which edged Canterbury 2-1 in the district championship game, needed just four innings to dispatch Seacrest, a sixth-year program that set a school record with 12 wins this season.
“The game was great, depending on who you were rooting for,” said first-year Seacrest coach John Kruk, a former Major Leaguer and ESPN analyst.
