One of Academy’s traditions is the annual Founders’ Day Cake Baking and Decorating with Junior Kindergarten, Senior Kindergarten, and 12th Graders.
In the morning, JK and SK separate into Houses where, with the help of teachers, students bake Founders’ Day cakes. Later in the day both grades travel across the street to decorate the cakes that they baked and sing Happy Birthday to Academy with students in 12th Grade before enjoying the treat.
As is also an unspoken tradition, after the little ones leave, seniors gather in the courtyard for an epic Founders’ Day food fight with the leftover cake.
This event is just one of many ways students at Academy celebrate the joy in the journey and the founding of our beloved school.
