About Our Team

Throughout the high school years, the Advisory program at Academy aims to prepare students for college. PSAT prep, College Search Activities, Interview Practice, Resume Writing and Career Interest Surveys are all activities Academy Upper Division students do during their four years here. In the fall of the senior year, intensive individualized counseling and support with application essays and forms are offered by the English Department and College Counseling Team.

Mr. Paul Hagenau is our Director of College Counseling, and he encourages all seniors to speak to him about their college application plans. He is available to review applications and give valuable feedback to students about their responses and essays, as well as to write Counselor Recommendations.

Mrs. Deborah Pitcairn, our registrar and Associate Director of College Counseling, is the person to whom requests for transcripts should be made. You may find the Transcript Request form on the Forms page of our web site (link). She is also available to discuss with students and parents their questions about the college application process and to write Counselor Recommendations.





Mike Kennedy, College Counselor Consultant

Mr. Mike Kennedy, our consulting college counselor, visits campus twice a month. Students and parents may sign up to meet with him on those days. Mr. Kennedy has over thirty years of experience in the fields of college admissions and education. He works with students and families through personalizing the college admissions process and by providing the most recent and accurate information in the college admissions field. He also lends guidance to high school and college admissions offices on a variety of issues and topics.
