Academy at the Lakes is happy to consider international students applying for admissions.
Academy is an authorized user of the Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS) and is authorized to issue a Form I-20 so that students may apply for a student visa to study in the United States.
All international students must first complete our standard admissions process.

2. Complete an Application for Admission
Click here to complete the Online Application or click here to print and submit a paper Application for Admission. Candidates for grades 9-12 must also complete the Upper School Candidate Application Supplement.
3. Submit a $75.00 Application Fee with completed application.
4. Sign and give the Teacher Recommendation & Release of Student Records Form to your child’s current school.
The school will mail this confidential recommendation directly to Academy at the Lakes. Click here to download the Teacher Recommendation & Release of Student Records Form.
5. Submit official school transcripts* from the previous 2 years of schooling
Transcripts should include curriculum information from your previous school documentation of the Grade Scale of the student’s previous school. An explanation, on school letterhead, in English, of what the score range is for an “A,” a “B,” a “C,” a “D,” and an “F,” or failing grade, is necessary so that an accurate GPA can be calculated.
If your child intends on participating in our Upper Division Athletic Program, you must provide complete transcripts beginning with your eighth grade year in both English AND your native language
*Please note: Transcripts must be translated into English. We need both translated and untranslated versions of your transcripts for students applying to our Upper Division
6. Complete Assessments
Students applying from English speaking countries are required to take the Secondary School Admission Test (SSAT). Register for this test online and enter our school code: 1057. There is a fee for this test that is payable to SSAT. Please consult SSAT for the test calendar.
International applicants from non-English speaking countries are required to demonstrate competency in English. Academy at the Lakes will accept either the iTEP SLATE-PLUS or the TOEFL Jr. Please visit the iTEP SLATE website or TOEFL Jr. website for information on scheduling your assessment.
The following minimum scores are required for admittance into Academy at the Lakes:

7. Schedule a Visit Day
Candidates will spend an entire school day shadowing one of our student ambassadors. If a visit is not possible, we will require a phone or a Skpye interview.
The Admission Committee meets weekly to review completed files.
Enrollment Agreements are mailed with the acceptance packages. A reasonable amount of time is allowed for parents to return the signed enrollment agreement along with the full tuition and fees payment.
Once a student has been accepted to Academy at the Lakes, the following items must be received before we issue a Form I-20:
Tuition and Fees must be paid in full before we will produce your student’s I-20. The I-20 is the first step to obtaining an F1 Student Visa. Families must make an appointment with their local United States consulate or embassy to obtain an F1 student visa. International students must have an F1 student visa before they can begin classes at Academy at the Lakes. If you are not able to obtain a student visa, please refer to our Visa Denial Refund Policy.
