May is National Military History Month
Academy at the Lakes celebrates the process by which students become life-long learners and life-long readers. The mission of the Library Media Program is to support classroom curriculum and enhance students’ research and reading skills. We have two libraries, which are supported with age-appropriate electronic databases.
On the Wendlek Campus, students in grades Pre-K3 through 4 have access to the Kretzinger Media Center. This serves all Lower Division students. In grades Pre-K3 through 4, students attend reading and information literacy programs that are aligned with the classroom curriculum. And for students in grades 2-4, technology instruction is a core component of their curriculum.

The Mary K. Haire Media Center on the McCormick Campus serves the Middle and Upper Divisions. While there is still strong support for reading, this Media Center is more of a virtual reference site with a computer lab and an emphasis on using online resources for research. Students have access to dozens of online databases to aid in their research.

Academy at the Lakes students also have access to many online databases and resources that are age-specific and subject-specific. These resources have been reviewed by the faculty and provide the students with research and homework help.
