Mid-Season Sports Update: Coach Nohra Wins 400th Career High School Game

Our Athletic season is at the half-way point. Listed below are a few notable achievements from some of our teams.

Varsity Girls’ Basketball Team Powers its Way to a 11-1 Start
Even with the devastating loss of star Vanessa Vincent to a season-ending knee injury in game 3, our girls have rebounded by winning nine straight games. 8th grader Marjorie Rivera and sophomore Andrea Mauger are among the top five scoring leaders in Pasco County. Also, Coach Karim Nohra won his 400th career high school game in our defeat of Zephyrhills on January 4th. Check out the news video here.

Middle Division Boys’ Basketball Team is Undefeated
Our boys’ 5th and 6th grade team has begun their season with a perfect 6-0 record. Coach Steve Bianco has his players working hard and full of confidence.

Varsity Girls’ Golf Team Wins District Championship
Thanks to the hard work and dedication of Coach Kevin Crowley and his staff, our Girls’ team won the first Team District Championship in Academy’s history. Ellen Crowley and Anna Fornelli-Castellano were honored as members of the Second Team All-Suncoast as chosen by the St. Pete Times. Boys’ team member, Michael Davidson, was an individual qualifier for the Regional Tournament.

Varsity Football Team Makes it to the Playoffs
Making the playoffs was the cap to a very successful year under our new coach, John Castelamare. With the loss of only two seniors, Coach Cas’ team looks to make another run at the playoffs next year.

Varsity Boys’ Soccer Team Begins Season with 8-1 Mark
Our Varsity Boys’ Soccer Team is off to an impressive 8-1 record under the leadership of Coach Flaubert Augustin. The second half of the season is filled with crucial district games. Alex Burnham is third in Pasco County in goals scored, and Jason Pitcairn is 7th in Pasco County in goals allowed by a goal keeper.

Varsity Girls’ Soccer Team Embarks on Inaugural Season
For the first time in Academy history, we have an all-girls soccer team. Even with injuries to key players, Coach Don Bellefeuille’s, team has a 1-3-1 record. With 18 girls on our roster, the future looks bright for our Girls’ Soccer program.
