Lower Division students in PreK3 through second grade celebrated Earth Day by beautifying their garden. Each student brought a plant to school that they had picked out with their parents. Teachers, parents, and faculty members were on hand to help dig the holes – and fill them. It was wonderful to see the young students so excited about the project. They lovingly placed their plants in the holes, and then volunteered to get more dirt to fill the holes. Their efforts yielded a garden full of color and variety.
Afterwards, the children enjoyed a snack of “Dirt Pie” – ice cream, crushed Oreo cookies, and gummy worms (of course) in their beautiful garden.
Many thanks to the parent volunteers for hosting the event and to the teachers who lent a “digging” hand and valuable knowledge about keeping our earth green.
