Student artists from PreK3 through high school had the opportunity to display their works of art during Academy’s Seventh Annual Art Show. The show was held at Frame by Frame Gallery in New Tampa and was hosted by gallery owner Steven Rothfarb. Shelley Grossbard and Sarah Gates, Academy’s art instructors, selected over 60 works from our talented kids. From watercolor landscapes to prints, student art was selected for its originality, creativity, and overall impact on the audience. Students, families, faculty and special guests gathered Sunday afternoon at the Artist’s reception to admire the student’s work.
Ms. Grossbard and Ms. Gates covered several themes and styles with the students throughout the year, exploring watercolors, acrylics, multimedia, block prints, self-portraits, and charcoals. Student artists created works based on the styles of popular artists like Miro, Britto, and Van Gogh as well as styles like Anime and Asian Brush Painting. Many of the works interpreted the students ideas about friendship, peace, and nature, and evoked many emotions from the viewers.
Lower Division Art Instructor Shelley Grossbard states, “Our students have worked all year and the art show is a culmination of all of their creativity and hard work. The focus piece for the show, an ink and watercolor painting was created by Hayley R., Academy Class of ’22.
The Art Show runs through Saturday, April 16.
