Exciting holiday events are happening all around the Tampa Bay Area this time of year. From ice skating to light shows to flying Santas… this list holds a great selection of family friendly events throughout the month:

 

Candy Cane Acres
Friday, Nov 29 – Saturday Dec 21, 6pm-10pm
The Christmas event includes Mrs. Claus’ kitchen, a parade of trees, a play area and children’s games, Santa’s workshop and a Florida-style sleigh ride. Hot chocolate, hot cider, eggnog and soda will be available, as well as cookies, fudge and cupcakes. Admission: $10 per carload which includes 10 free tickets, which can be used toward food, drinks and games; additional tickets are 50 cents each.

Ice Palace at International Plaza
Tuesday, Dec 3 – Tuesday, Dec 24, 10am
International Plaza transforms into the Ice Palace, a 30-foot dome with snow, a light show, snow globes, glistening icicles and footage from BBC Earth’s Frozen Planet. Ice Palace entertainment includes roaming snow princess characters, visits with Santa and family photos on an ice throne. Admission: Free.

Tampa’s Downtown on Ice
Wednesday, Dec 4 – Jan 5, 4pm
Even in Florida, you can get in the holiday spirit by skating on an outdoor rink in the park. Each 90-minute session includes skate rental. The rink is open through Jan. 5. Admission: $10.

Winter Concert
Thursday, Dec 5, 5pm-7:30pm

Symphony in Lights
Thursday, Dec 5- Tuesday Dec 31, 6pm-9pm
A holiday light show with more than 250,000 LED lights choreographed to the music of the Trans Siberian Orchestra. Shows at 6, 7, 8 and 9 p.m. nightly through Dec. 31. Admission: Free.

Tampa’s Tree Lighting Ceremony
Friday, Dec 6, 6pm
Festivities begin with music by the Late Night Brass, a  Secret Santa Giveaway and the countdown to tree lighting with the mayor. Afterward, there will be a free showing of National Lampoon’s  Christmas Vacation. Visitors are asked to bring a teddy bear that will be donated to children. Admission: free.

Second Annual Tampa Christmas Market
Friday, Dec 6, 5pm & Satruday Dec 7, 11am
Held in conjunction with Tampa’s Tree Lighting Ceremony and Santa Fest, the event features booths of artisans, gift and craft vendors. Admission: free.

Light Up Ridge Manor Christmas Festival

The Christmas celebration includes a DJ, Smokey Bear’s house, Christmas carolers, a performance by John Leggio’s dance troupe, a cakewalk and an appearance by Santa Claus. There will be children’s games and activities, a silent auction and food vendors. Admission: Free.

Annual Festival of Trees Craft Show

The annual event, sponsored by the GFWC Brooksville Woman’s Club and St. Anthony the Abbot Catholic Church, includes an array of vendors, decorated trees, photos with Santa, food, musical entertainment, storytelling and other activities. The church kitchen will be open. Admission: Free

A Carrollwood Christmas

Hillsborough River Holiday Boat Parade

Watch the parade from land or bring boats, canoes, paddle boards or kayaks to the Lowry Park Boat Ramp and be a part of the evening on the river. The parade will go up river to Sulphur Springs Park where the Sulphur Springs Neighborhood Association holds a party to welcome the parade.
