On Wednesday, February 18, the 4th through 11th Grade Public Speaking Contest winners were honored at an assembly. The winners recited their speeches to an audience of peers, faculty, staff, and family.
The public speaking program, through the Language Arts/ English Department, is a special component of the English Curriculum. This program provides opportunities to practice public speaking skills, increase confidence in public communication, and explores literature, poetry, and speech writing.
All students in grades 4-11 presented memorized, oral interpretations of chosen works in class. Classes each chose the top 4 speeches which were then judged by chosen faculty and staff. The judges then determined the winners.
