, Middle Division Instructor Attends Special USF Session, Academy at the Lakes

On Tuesday, March 1, 7th and 8th Grade Social Studies Instructor Mr. Joel Williams attended an event hosted by the University of South Florida’s Center for Strategic and Diplomatic Students and Her Majesty’s Consul General of the United Kingdom in Miami, Fla. entitled “Five Years After the Arab Spring: US-UK Policy, Threats, Challenges and Opportunities in the Middle East.”

The panel, consisting of US and UK representatives from a three-star general to the Deputy British Ambassador to the USA, gave brief presentations on facets of current Middle East policy. The topics ranged from the Syrian conflict to Kurdish influence on internal borders. The question and answer session included a spirited debate about the effect of Russian influence on diplomacy. This was a first in a series of lectures on global issues hosted by the USF Center for Strategic and Diplomatic Studies.
