18 Years of Instrumental Nights

Instrumental Night was formed in 2000 by Frances Pisacane as an opportunity for her students to perform solos and duets. As the program grew it became an opportunity for the Advanced String Orchestra to perform pieces they had worked on in class but didn’t have enough time to play in the all-school concert. Students could also choose to play solos or small-group pieces. About 10 years ago the Band joined us for Instrumental Night, and about 5 years ago we started including the Middle Division Strings and Band students, as well.

Instrumental Night has become the end-of-the-year performance for our 7th – 12thGrade instrumentalists, with the exception of several 6thgrade students who play with the older groups. It remains a mix of solos, small ensemble pieces, the whole band and whole string orchestra selections, and a finale featuring the combined band and strings (full orchestra).
