Wildcats Sports Update: Softball On The Road to the State Championship Plus Tennis, Track and Field, and Baseball

Our Varsity Boys Tennis team is moving on to Regional Tournament Play this week. They will face off against Tampa Prep on Tuesday (24th). A win against Tampa Prep would propel them to the Regional Final on Thursday (26th) with the opponent to be named later. AATL players Dion Loutas and Aidan Lillienthal will move on to State Tournament play in singles and doubles the week of April 30th – May 4th in Orlando. Dion was the District Champion in singles, and he teamed up with Aidan to win the District Championship in doubles. Dion and Aidan are AATL’s first District Champions in school history. Rounding out our tennis team is Nathan Impresso, Taimoor Nawaz, and Rohan Vemuri.

Our Varsity Softball team will start their run at a State Championship this week with District Tournament play on Tuesday (24th) and Thursday (26th) at their home field on Starkey Ranch. Tuesday’s game will begin at 7pm, and Thursday’s will begin at 6pm. Our girls have posted their best season ever (20 wins, 4 losses) and are ranked as the top team in Florida in Class 2A, and one of the top teams overall classifications.

Our Varsity Track and Field had five of its members qualify for the Regional Track and Field meet being held at Cypress Creek High School on April 25th. Annelise Youngblood will compete in the 100 meter and 300 meter hurdles. Zachary Moore, Tioma Stepanets, Amad Zarak, and Jullian Jennings will compete in the 4×400 meter relay.

Varsity Baseball is enjoying its best season in school history. The team has set Academy records in wins (11), runs scored (141), and home runs (9). Many of their stats, such as pitching strikeouts and team batting average rank in the top eight of all teams in Florida. Some of our standout players are Eric Hutchison, Andrew Kilfoyl, and Jordan Oladokun; all of which are batting over 400. Joel Eason, Jack Teeter, and Spencer Boynton are all batting over 350. Eric Hutchison is ranked 5th in the state in 2A for runs scored (28), and 7th in pitching strikeouts (57). Boynton is ranked 5th in the state for RBI’s (23), and Kilfoyl is 2nd in the district in home runs (3). They will begin their District Tournament on April 30th with a road game against Victory Christian at Southeastern University in Lakeland.
