Academy at the Lakes Students Summarize COVID-19 in Six Words

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Academy at the Lakes eleventh grade English teacher, Kim Vreeland, was preparing her lesson on the importance of word choice and sentence structure when she was inspired by Ernest Hemmingway’s six-word story. She assigned her students several questions to think about and asked them to answer in six words.

The most popular question students chose to consider was about their experience with COVID-19 and staying at home for several months. Soon, this class assignment turned into a school-wide project. Students of all ages emotionally told a story about how the virus put many things into perspective, in only six words.
