Academy Students Named Finalists for National Invention Competition!

Words by Brad Shellgren, Marketing and Communications Associate

Damaged delivery packages could be a thing of the past if 8th graders Shiven Patel and Darren Lau have their say. The two Academy students have been working for the better part of the school year designing a package that could withstand the rigors of the delivery process. It turns out, their package design is a winning idea!

Shiven and Darren submitted their invention to the Edison Pitch Contest, which involves creating an invention that solves a problem and helps to improve lives. The two were notified that their package design earned them a trip to East Orange, New Jersey as finalists for The Edison Pitch Contest. Shiven and Darren were one of only three finalists selected from hundreds of submissions. On Wednesday, May 18th Patel and Lau will present their design and research to a panel of judges in hopes of earning first place. Best of luck, gentlemen.
