While most of their peers were traveling the country, sunning at the beach and enjoying all that spring break has to offer, a few Academy students were shining at the Florida State Science and Engineering Fair. Bryce Picard ‘26, Will Hutchinson ‘26 and Darren Lau ‘26 were selected to present their outstanding science projects at the state championships in Lakeland, Florida. They were among 800 other students from around the state.
While at the fair, Bryce Picard presented a project entitled – How does pH affect the motility of planktonic pseudocoelomates? Will Hutchinson presented his project – Does the type of fishing knot have an effect on when 14 lb test monofilament and fluorocarbon fishing lines snap when force is applied? Will was awarded a gift certificate in recognition of his work. Darren Lau’s project – Color Recognition in Machine Learning was awarded 1st place in the category of Intelligent Machines, Robotics and Systems Software. Congratulations to all three for their dedication and outstanding work.
