Here is a glimpse at Life at the Lakes in November.
8th Grade Wilderness Adventure Trip
Our 8th Grade enjoyed an unforgettable trip to Wilderness Adventure at Eagle Landing in Virginia, where students unplugged, explored the outdoors, and strengthened friendships through team-building challenges. From rock climbing and mountain biking to zip-lining and cave exploring, the experience was a memorable highlight of the month.

7th Grade Seacamp Trip
Our 7th Grade returned from an incredible week at Seacamp in the Florida Keys. Students explored marine ecosystems through snorkeling, boating, and hands-on science labs, getting up close with fascinating ocean creatures.
The week was full of discovery, teamwork, and laughter—an experience they’ll always remember!

UD Voter Registration
Academy at the Lakes hosted its first Voter Registration Ceremony of the year, with more to come! History Department Chair Katie Vargas opened the event by highlighting our nation’s voting history and encouraging eligible students to register and make their voices heard!
Veterans Day Assembly
Academy at the Lakes honored our veterans with an inspiring assembly featuring patriotic performances by the band, strings, and choral groups. Select students also paid tribute to our heroes through heartfelt speeches.
The assembly concluded with a moving performance of “Taps” by Ameer M. ’28. We are deeply grateful to all who have served and sacrificed for our country!

SK Turkey Trot
One of the best Senior Kindergarten traditions returned this year as our SK turkeys took on the Turkey Trot! Dressed in turkey costumes, they raced through a fun obstacle course while friends and family cheered them on.
A special highlight was the participation of their Senior Buddies, adding even more smiles and laughter to the day. It was a wonderful way to celebrate Thanksgiving and share Wildcat spirit!

UD Theater – One Act Competition
Academy at the Lakes’ International Thespian Society Troupe 6315 is off to an incredible start this year! The troupe earned a Critics Choice Award at the District 14 One Act Competition for their 30-minute rendition of Xanadu: The Musical and has officially qualified for the State Championships in March.
The judges were impressed by the students’ energy and talent, recognizing:
- Best Actress: Rubye B. ’26
- All-Star Cast: Emerson T. ’28
- Best Stage Management: Emerson P. ’29
Adding to the excitement was the leadership of Thespian Director Jessica Hill ’20, who returned to her alma mater to inspire and guide students throughout their performances!

Thanksgiving Assembly
The entire school came together to celebrate community and gratitude during this year’s Thanksgiving Assembly. The day was filled with heartfelt moments as students reflected on the many blessings in their lives—from friends and family to… even cranberry sauce! The choral groups added to the festivities with songs that brought smiles to everyone.
It was a joyful celebration that perfectly captured the spirit of Thanksgiving at Academy!
