Welcome Letter from Joaquin ’25

Dear families,

Welcome to Academy at the Lakes.

You’ve made the right choice! As a student here for 4 years, I can tell you there isn’t a community more creative, innovative, and kind than this one. This school has a special place for every single one of its students.

The faculty and staff will support you in achieving your dreams.  It doesn’t matter if it’s aspiring to be in the regional winning softball team, to be the weightlifting state champion, or to come out victorious in the Odyssey of the Mind World Finals. Whatever your dreams are, we have a spot for you.

Academy never ceases to amaze me with the amazing opportunities and experiences available to me: Mountain Biking, kayaking, white water rafting, you name it.

The academic experience at Academy is quite unique. The teachers are flexible, understanding, and supportive. For instance, if I have a film project due, they are willing to grant extensions. Similarly, when I’m involved in a play or need to leave early for a soccer game, they offer extra help if needed. Their willingness to work with my diverse commitments make everything better.

The only thing missing is you! With that being said just know you don’t have to worry about a thing, and we can’t wait to welcome you. Academy at the lakes is your place!

Signing off, your Student Council President, Joaquin Benitez.
