From PreK3 to Georgetown – Anisa Nanavati ’22

Words by Kim Vreeland

Anisa Nanavati began her Academy journey when she was 3 years old, and in two months, she will head to Georgetown University in Washington D.C. to study International Politics.

Anisa shares that it was the strong support system at Academy at the Lakes that contributed to her success. “My community was always there to lift me up when I struggled and cheer me on throughout my academic career, and I know that after graduation, they will continue to do so.”

Anisa’s academic career is noteworthy: An AP Distinguished Scholar, Anisa took 13 Advanced Placement courses and completed the prestigious AP Capstone program. Anisa appreciated the wide variety of AP course offerings that allowed her to pursue her interests in a more intimate setting, “As classes became more difficult, the size of the classes became smaller, which allowed for more small group instruction with teachers, ensuring that I had a strong grasp of the skills and content.”

Anisa appreciates that the courses were not just about the test but that the teachers took time to explore intriguing topics outside of the standard curriculum, “I am certain that the instruction I received will prepare me well for Georgetown.”

Anisa’s success was not limited to academics. She served on the Upper Division Advisory Council, as Secretary of Student Council and National Honor Society, President of the Green Club, captain of the basketball team, played the violin, and ran track.  Anisa shares, “Throughout my Academy experience, I tried and failed at many things, but I also learned more about myself through unexpected successes and passions.

At Academy at the Lakes, you can do anything, and the opportunities are absolutely endless.”
