There is a new top team after Clearwater Central Catholic defeated Bishop McLaughlin in the always-tough Berkeley Premier tournament on Saturday. Calvary Christian also played in that tournament, losing its first match of the season. Osceola is now the only undefeated team in the area, but that could be tested this weekend. And welcome Academy at the Lakes to the top 15.
Academy at the Lakes (8-1)
This week: Tuesday vs. Tampa Bay HEAT, Friday-Saturday at Fivay tournament
Why they moved in: The Wildcats have beaten Zephyrhills twice and the HEAT earlier in the season. They haven’t lost a set in five matches. The lone loss was to Tampa Prep. Junior Annelise Youngblood (82 kills) and senior Amiyah Martin (80 kills) lead the offense. The Fivay tournament will be a step up and a good gauge for the Wildcats.
