Medical Programs

Hands-on learning that preps your child for their future.

Academy at the Lakes offers a one-of-a-kind Introduction to Medicine course. The semester-long class, which is offered by application only and is taught by two MDs, meets after school once per week. It offers an in-depth look at the medical profession through interactive experiences, guest speakers, and practical community field trips.
The capstone experience for this course includes a visit to the University of South Florida’s Center for Advanced Medical Learning and Simulation (CAMLS). Students will practice with laparoscopic surgical simulators, view and learn about virtual cadaver technology, and conduct basic tests on high fidelity human patient simulators.
The Admissions Team offers personal tours to fit your schedule. Tours are scheduled Monday-Friday.

Moffitt Cancer Center Partnership

In an effort to increase student understanding of the connections between advanced math and science, Academy at the Lakes has partnered with the Integrated Mathematical Oncology (IMO) Lab at Moffitt Cancer Center.
Through this partnership, selected Upper Division students attend a seminar presented by the IMO mathematicians. Students gain an understanding of how math and science work together to develop cutting edge solutions in the treatment of cancer. Additionally, students who attend this program are encouraged to apply for a summer internship at the IMO.
