State bound!Academy at the Lakes Odyssey of the Mind teams had an amazing showing at the Regional Tournament on Saturday. All 4 teams earned a spot at the State Competition and will be competing in Orlando in less than a month.The Vehicle team came in 3rd in their problem. They also earned the Ranatra Fusca, a special distinction given to only a few teams throughout the competition that recognizes and celebrates exceptional creativity in a problem solution. The Technical team came in 1st place in their problem and achieved a perfect score in the spontaneous part of the competition. The Classics team, composed of all ninth graders, came in 1st place in their problem and division. The Performance team, consisting of all first time OMers, came in 2nd place in their problem and received recognition from the judges for their artistic backdrop. Welcome to America!It's the return of the Ellis Island Experience. Our 3rd grade "immigrants" took a boat to Ellis Island where they were processed to become citizens. Stops along the way included registry, baggage, medical and interview. When completed, the immigrants were cleared to enter America and were giving jobs.
