AATL Sophomore Places Eighth out of 180 in National Equestrian Competition

Academy at the Lakes sophomore Emerson Maier has been riding horses for four years. Lately she has been able to spend more time training due to virtual school during the pandemic.

“One of the things I love most about riding horses is the success I experience correlates with the amount of work I put in. I work hard in and out of the saddle and every time I step in the ring that hard work is rewarded,” said Maier.

She spends hundreds of hours training for the two-minute opportunity to perform and compete against some of the top riders in the nation.

Most recently she competed against 180 other equestrians at the National Horse Show Hamel Foundation 3’3” Equestrian Championship in Lexington, Kentucky on October 25, where she placed eighth in her division.
