Life at the Lakes: December 2024

Here is a glimpse at Life at the Lakes in December:

December 5 – Lightning Visit

It’s nice on ice!

What an unforgettable experience for our Sports Broadcasting students as they got an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at what it takes to put on a Lightning game! From meeting pro journalists and former players, to watching the Lightning practice up close, our students were treated to the ultimate VIP experience.

Come along as our students give you a sneak peek behind the curtain! Special thanks to Lightning SVP of Production and Game Presentation, John Franzone, for making this incredible opportunity possible

December 6 – Operation Adoption

Our passionate Environmental Science students are leading the charge to protect our planet – and they’ve made an incredible impact! To support manatee conservation, they organized a bake sale with one goal in mind: adopting Ginger the manatee. Ginger, marked with scars from unfortunate run-ins with watercraft, now has a new chance at a better future thanks to these dedicated students.

Not only did the bake sale raise enough to adopt Ginger, but the leftover funds will go directly toward supporting manatee conservation efforts.

A huge round of applause for their hard work and commitment to our planet!

December 12 & 13 Winter Concerts

Sound of the Season!

Music is at the heart of Academy, and this year’s Winter Concerts truly showcased the incredible talent of our musicians and singers from all Divisions. From heartwarming melodies to breathtaking performances, our students entertained friends and family with passion and skill.

A huge thank you to everyone who contributed to making this event a success. You all shined on stage!

December 17 – Hatchet Day

Bringing books to life!

After reading the novel Hatchet, our 4th graders took their survival skills to the East Campus! They built their own fires, purified their own water, and constructed shelters—putting their perseverance, teamwork, and ingenuity to the test.

It was a day full of hands-on learning and adventure, bringing the story off the page and into real life. Always a favorite day for our students and a reminder that great opportunities await when we push ourselves outside the classroom!

December 19 & 20 – Holiday Sing-a-Long & Fun Run

Tis the season!

The Lower Division hit the break running, literally! Our amazing young students closed out the year with a sing-along and fun runs all the while friends and family watched on with delight. What a fantastic way to end a fantastic year.
