SUMMER AT THE LAKES NEWS & ANNOUNCEMENTS

3/1/19: NEW camp just added to our offerings!
Musical Theater Camp is an exciting and intense two-week full day camp session where students will stage and produce a full-scale musical! Under the guidance of professional theatrical directors, Jeremy D. Silverman and Margee Sapowsky, students will gain experience in acting, singing, and dancing, while also working with set construction and stage technology. This two-week session will conclude with public performances of the musical in the evening of Friday, June 14th and on the afternoon of Saturday, June 15th.
This rigorous program is open to rising 6th-12th graders. This camp is contingent on enrollment.
Dates: Week 1 & 2 June 3-14, 2019
Cost: $550 for 2 Weeks

Personal Finance: this course is designed to help students understand the impact of individual choices. Topics covered will include income, money management, spending and credit, as well as saving and investing. Available to rising 11th and 12th graders. Cost $1500.

Welcome to our campus and to Summer at the Lakes! We are so pleased to have you here, whether you have been part of our program for many years or you’re sampling our wide range of offerings for the very first time. Your child does not need to be an Academy at the Lakes student to have fun and learn all kinds of things with us during your summer! I very much hope that your family’s Summer at the Lakes will help your child discover some new talents, interests, and skills. Whether it’s learning how to shoot an arrow, cast a line, build a robot or model, scholastic skills in our academic camps and summer school, or life skills built by learning how to play well with others, the lessons we learn in summer can enrich us and last a lifetime.

What if my child does not attend Academy at the Lakes?

Summer at the Lakes is open to EVERYONE! You do not have to attend Academy at the Lakes as a student to enjoy our summer program offerings. Bring a friend and SPLASH into Summer at the Lakes!

 

How do I register my child for camp?

Please visit the following link to create an account or sign-in to your account. Follow the instructions from the website to register your child. We do not accept in-person or paper registrations. All registrations must be completed online prior to the child attending camp.

 

What are the dates of your program?

Our summer program runs for 8-weeks from June 3rd to July 26th. The week of July 4th our program will be offered Monday, July 1st through Wednesday, July 3rd. We will be closed on Thursday, July 4th and Friday, July
5th in observance of the national holiday.

 

Do I have to sign my child up for the whole summer?

Summer at the Lakes is a choice-based program. Your child can attend for 1 week or all 8 weeks. We have morning, afternoon, and full day options available. With over 60 different camps and classes to choose from, your child can have a different experience each week!

 

What types of camps and classes do you offer?

We offer over 60 different camps and classes.
We have a range of camps that vary from sports to STEM, arts and crafts, cooking, fishing, canoeing, specialty themes, and field trip camps. We also offer Math, Language Arts, and special topics noncredit summer classes and Math, Foreign Language, American Government, and H.O.P.E. for-credit high school courses.

 

How much does your program cost?

Our half-day camps range in price from $150-$200. You can combine a morning half-day camp and an afternoon half-day camp to create a full day experience.

Our full-day camps range in price from $225-$375 per week, depending on the camp offering.

Our noncredit morning only summer school classes for Kindergarten through 8th graders cost $225. You can combine a morning half-day summer class and an afternoon half-day camp to create a full day experience.

During the week of July 4th, camps and classes are pro-rated.

Our 8-week for-credit high school blended learning courses cost $1,500. We offer classes in math, foreign language, American Government, and H.O.P.E.

 

Do you require a deposit?

Yes, we require a $25 deposit for each camp or noncredit summer school session that is applied towards your tuition balance. After May 31st, all deposits are non-refundable.

For-credit high school courses require a $150 deposit that is applied towards your tuition balance. After May 31st, all deposits are non-refundable.

 

How do you determine age/grade placement?

Your child must be 3 and toilet-trained by June 1st.
If your child is 3, they can attend Little Rec Camp which is offered full-day weeks 1-4 and 6-8. Morning and aftercare are not available for 3-year-olds. The week of July 4th they can attend Patriotic Playhouse for 3 and 4-year-olds.

If your child is 4 by June 1st, they can attend Junior Rec Camp which is offered full-day weeks 1-4 and 6-8. The week of July 4th they can attend Patriotic Playhouse for 3 and 4-year-olds.

For children ages 5 and older by June 1st, they will attend camps or classes for the grade they will be entering in school in August 2019.

 

Is lunch included?

No, we do not offer a lunch program at Summer at the Lakes. If your child is attending for the full day please pack a lunch, snacks, drinks, and water bottles each day unless otherwise noted.

 

Do you offer morning or aftercare?

Yes, for children 4 years and older. Morning care is located in the gym from 7:30-8:00 for $5. Aftercare is located in our 5/6th-grade suite from 3:15-6:00 and costs $5 per hour.

 

Do you offer transportation?

No, we do not offer transportation to or from our campus during the summer.
