World War I Resources

World War I lasted from July 28, 1914 to November 11, 1918. It involved most of the world’s great nations. Most of the war was fought in trenches, with massive loss of life in failed attacks. New weapons, such as aircraft, submarines and chemical weapons, introduced new and more violent forms of warfare. The War ended with the Treaty of Versailles, which caused further conflict, especially the Second World War. Ironically, it came to be known as The War to End All Wars.
