Wildcat Camp

Full Day Camp for rising K-5th graders

Wildcat Camp is a full-day camp designed to spark imagination, stimulate intellectual curiosity, and provide plenty of fun and physical activity. Camp highlights include hands-on, collaborative educational activities led by experienced adult teachers, a variety of exciting games and play, and small group settings led by caring, responsible, and enthusiastic counselors.

How Wildcat Camp Works.

Wildcat Campers have the option to choose between a classic camp experience (Option 1: Academy Adventures) or a specialty morning session (Option 2: A.M. Alternative Session) each week. This choice is made during registration.

Option 1: Academy Adventures

Our signature camp day includes collaborative and hands-on units that reflect instructor’s unique passion and expertise. Campers will learn in fun, informative, and creative ways.

Option 2: A.M. Alternative Sessions

Our morning alternative sessions include a wide variety of specialities such as drama, technology, story-telling, and sports activities.  Students in these offerings will join their camp peers during the lunch period followed by the remainder of the Wildcat Camp day.

Basketball Camp (Grade 2 - Grade 5)

Week 5

Experienced coaching, engaging drills, and fun competitive games will help to take your game to the next level.  Join Coach Brown in enhancing your teamwork and sportsmanship abilities, improving your physical conditioning, and growing your overall understanding of the great game of basketball!

Canine Crew (Grade 2 - Grade 5)

Week 5

Is your child a dog lover? Are they excited to spend their summer learning about and interacting with furry friends? Then Canine Crew Adventure is the perfect camp for them! This unique camp is designed for kids who are passionate about dogs and want to explore the world of canine care, training, and fun activities—whether they have their own dog or just want to learn more! They’ll learn how to properly care for dogs, understand dog behavior, and even practice basic training techniques. Each day features exciting activities that will keep campers engaged, active, and having fun, including agility courses, obedience drills, and dog-related games. In addition to learning about dog care and training, Canine Crew Adventure emphasizes kindness, responsibility, and respect for animals, teaching campers how to be responsible pet owners and advocates for animals.

theCoderSchool: Coding 101 (Grade 2 - Grade 5)

Week 5

Code, Create, Play. Take the lead by coding interactive games and video projects with Scratch. Create adventures that send you to space, blasting away meteors! Explore core concepts like variables and video sensing in a visual coding environment designed by MIT Media Lab. Then, experiment with Google’s Teachable Machine, building a machine learning model that identifies hand signs or dance moves. Your journey to becoming a programmer or game developer starts here.

You’ll learn to:

  • Develop games and video sensing projects in Scratch
  • Practice coding and game design concepts
  • Code with variables, operators, and loops
  • Build and test a machine learning model with Google’s Teachable Machine

theCoderSchool: Game Design 101 (Grade 2 - Grade 5)

Week 7

Join our coding camp and unleash your creativity with Scratch, MIT’s revolutionary drag-and-drop language. Perfect for newbies and young coders – you’ll design and build awesome games, learn coding fundamentals, and bring your imagination to life. No experience needed – just curiosity and enthusiasm! Get ready for a blast of creativity and coding fun.

theCoderSchool: Game Design with Minecraft (Grade 2 - Grade 5)

Week 3

theCoderSchool: Roblox Camp- Launch Your Own Obby Game (Grade 2 - Grade 5)

Week 1

Get your imagination flowing with Roblox Studio, an immersive game engine that can be played on the web, mobile, or even in virtual reality! You’ll learn the fundamentals of game design and build your very own obstacle course, complete with fire-spawning platforms and speed boosts that’ll put your name on the top of the leaderboard. And with Roblox’s toolbox and a dash of creativity, you’ll sculpt mountains and design custom art for your avatar to wear in-game.

You’ll learn to:

  • Create and publish games to the Roblox website
  • Explore game design fundamentals and build your own Obby
  • Create developer products and monetize items
  • Implement checkpoints and custom challenges using built-in Lua scripts

Bring your story to life with custom mechanics like collectibles and melee weapons using Lua scripts. Share your published game with friends across platforms and monetize in-game products to earn Robux. As a Roblox developer, you’ll gain experience and skills to tackle advanced game design challenges.

You’ll learn to:

  • Build custom terrain and obstacles for a Roblox game
  • Implement game mechanics and custom challenges using Lua scripts

theCoderSchool: Robotics (Grade 2 - Grade 5)

Week 6

Code. Create. Control. Join our Robotics camp for a hands-on adventure! Learn programming fundamentals and command real robots. No experience needed – just curiosity and enthusiasm!

You’ll learn to:

  • Learn coding languages like Scratch & Python
  • Master sensors, motors, & microcontrollers
  • Develop critical thinking for robotic design & troubleshooting

theCoderSchool: VR Game Design with Roblox and Meta Quest (Grade 2 - Grade 5)

Week 2

Dive into Roblox Studio, a cutting-edge game engine, and create immersive games for web, mobile, and Virtual Reality (VR). Master the fundamentals of game design and build thrilling obstacle courses, complete with fire-spawning platforms and speed boosts. Sculpt custom 3D environments, from majestic mountains to vibrant cities, and design unique art and accessories for your avatar. Publish your game and compete for leaderboard glory, sharing your masterpiece with millions of players worldwide.

Disney en Español (Grade K - Grade 1)

Week 1

This engaging, hands-on camp introduces young children to the Spanish language through fun, themed activities inspired by the magic of Disney!

Drama Kids - Creative Drama: Broadway Bound (Grades K-Grade 1)

Week 7
Join a high-energy, week-long adventure into the world of musical theater. Campers will explore five iconic musicals, diving into their stories, songs, and characters. Through daily workshops, they’ll learn choreography, vocal techniques, and acting skills, bringing each show to life. By the end of the week, campers will perform a small presentation showcasing scenes, songs, and dances from all five musicals. Whether you dream of being on the stage or just love musical theater, Broadway Bound is the perfect way to experience the magic of Broadway in a fun, supportive environment!

Drama Kids - Creative Drama: Spotlight Era (Grades K-Grade 1)

Week 2 
Are you ready for it? Step into a world of excitement and self-expression at The Spotlight Era Camp! Unleash your inner performer through dramatic storytelling, dynamic movement, and confidence-boosting activities. Inspired by themes of individuality, creativity, and passion, you’ll craft original scenes, explore the art of self-expression, and learn to command the stage like a pro. This camp celebrates what makes you unique, helping you shine in every performance. Whether you’re telling a powerful story or delivering a show-stopping moment, you’ll feel the thrill of stepping into the spotlight. It’s your time to dazzle, create, and start your very own Spotlight Era!

Exploradores de la Cultura Latina (Explorers of Latin culture) (Grade K - Grade 1)

Week 6

This immersive camp is designed to introduce our young world wanderers to the vibrant Latin way of life through engaging games, lively music, captivating stories, and hands-on crafts.

Exploradores de la Naturaleza en Español (Explorers of Nature in Spanish) (Grade K - Grade 1)

Week 7

Join us for an immersive Spanish language experience where young explorers will discover the wonders of the Amazon rainforest, vast oceans, towering volcanoes, and other incredible Latin American ecosystems. Through engaging activities, campers will build their Spanish skills while embarking on an unforgettable adventure!

Flag Football (Grade 2 - Grade 8)

Weeks 1 & 2

Join us for some Flag Football Fun this summer! Take your game to the next level as you learn offensive and defensive skills and concepts to campers of all skill levels. Campers will also have ample opportunity to apply what they’ve learned in modified games and scrimmages. This is a great opportunity for any player looking to improve their game, have fun, and build confidence.

Introduction to Art (Grade K - Grade 1)

Week 5

Introduction to Art is the perfect place for your camper to develop new-found art skills as they discover the basics of working with different art mediums. Come discover, create, and have fun!

Kindergarten 101 (Grade K) *Academy students only*

Week 8

Get ready for kindergarten with this exciting preview camp! Designed specifically for Academy at the Lakes students entering senior kindergarten, this camp offers engaging activities in reading, writing, and math readiness. Campers will explore letters and numbers through hands-on projects, practice technology skills, and enjoy creative play that fosters learning and fun.

Little Engineers (Grade K - Grade 4)

Weeks 1 & 8

In Little Engineers, your camper will spend the week problem solving and engaging in fun, hands-on projects. This week is all about imagining, designing, and creating with different kinds of materials, testing, and then improving their creations. They will compete in engineering challenges and have fun collaborating with their friends.

Magic at Academy (Grade 2 - Grade 5)

Week 7

Are you a master of magic or a prodigy at potions? Whether you’re ready to soar in a game of Quidditch, craft your very own wand, whip up a batch of cauldron cakes, or tackle the art of planting mandrakes, this camp has it all! New to brewing Polyjuice Potion or taming fantastical creatures? No worries—your expert professors are here to guide you. Step into the enchanting grounds of wizardry and prepare to let your imagination cast its own spell!

Minute to Win It (Grade 2 - Grade 5)

Week 6

An exciting camp with fast paced games, challenges, and good-natured competitions. Campers will go head-to-head as they compete in quick and fun challenges in the style of “Minute to Win It.” During each task, participants will be required to think on their feet while working by themselves, in pairs, or in groups.

Montage Art (Grade 2 - Grade 5)

Week 2

By blending images, printed materials, and found objects, artists can craft captivating collages that catch the eye and provide fresh insights into the essence of art. During this exciting week, campers will explore the art of collage, using materials such as paper, fabric, and wood to design their own one-of-a-kind montage masterpieces. Don’t forget to bring an oversized paint shirt for the fun!

Recycle Art (Grade 2 - Grade 5)

Week 1

Celebrate the earth while unleashing your creativity! Campers will craft both two and three-dimensional artworks through building, sculpting, painting, and repurposing recycled materials. Each participant will design and create their own “recycled art.”  Additionally, campers will collaborate on an eco-friendly group project. Don’t forget to bring an oversized paint shirt for the fun!

Soccer Camp (Grade 2 - Grade 5)

Week 7

Engaging drills, skill-building activities, modified games, and scrimmages will help your camper enhance their fundamentals and overall understanding of “the beautiful game.” Let our coaches guide your player to become a stronger dribbler, passer, shooter, and teammate!

Softball (Grade 2 - Grade 8)

Weeks 3 & 4

Join us for a week of fun and skill-building! Campers will develop fundamental softball techniques, including fielding, throwing, base running, and hitting. Come swing into action and deepen your love for the game!

Storybook Adventures Camp (Grade K - Grade 1)

Week 3

Storybook Adventures takes inspiration from classic read aloud stories to create engaging experiential learning opportunities for all campers.

This week’s book themes and activities will include:

  • Folk and Fairy Tales: Campers will read classic fairy tales and folk tales and then will work together to dress up, create the scene, and act out the Three Little Pigs. They will also create a fairy garden using natural materials.
  • Eric Carle-Arts and Craft: Taking inspiration from various Eric Carle illustrated books, students will create collages and other crafts.
  • Mysteries: If You Give a Mouse a Cookie and Curious George: Using Curious George and the Mouse’s adventures, students will make cookies and follow the case of their missing cookies around campus.
  • Tea Party: Miss Spider’s Tea Party, Winnie the Pooh, Fancy Nancy: Tea for Two: Students will read these selections, create fancy tea hats, and have a tea party!

Storybook Adventures Camp (Grade K - Grade 1)

Week 4

Storybook Adventures takes inspiration from classic read aloud stories to create engaging experiential learning opportunities for all campers.

This week’s book themes and activities will include:

  • Space: Magic School Bus, Sulwe, Harold and the Purple Crayon, Goodnight Moon: Using these books, students will learn about space and complete interactive space activities.
  • Summertime: Swimmy, When Lightning Comes in a Jar: After reading classic summertime stories, students will learn about Florida’s summertime weather and enjoy indoor and outdoor summer activities.
  • All Things Dr. Seuss: Hop on Pop bubble wrap jumps, Cat and the Hat finger puppet plays, and Sneetches star tag are just some of the fun activities in this Seuss session.
  • Color Your World: The Day the Crayons Quit: Students will learn all about the power of color on this day. Activities include a color scavenger hunt, a book walk, coloring activities, and The Reading Rainbow.
  • Where the Wild Things Are: Wild Rumpus: Students will enjoy a wild day of kinesthetic learning based on the book Where the Wild Things Are.

Summer Explorers (Grade K - Grade 1)

Weeks 2-6

Each week campers will explore a unique theme that shapes the camp’s activities. Campers will enjoy a mix of fun indoor and outdoor activities that include themed games, messy experiments, creative crafts, playground time and more! This camp is perfect for campers who thrive on a balance of structure and free choice. Summer Explorers Themes:
