Academy 4 life! Nate Smith began his Academy journey when he was just 4 years old. This fall, he is headed to the University of Florida to study Finance and run for the number one track team in the nation. An AP Scholar, National Honor Society member, and Head of School Honor Roll student, Nate shares that his Academy teachers cared deeply about his success and the success of his classmates, and Nate’s academic success reflects this. In addition to an Invention Convention National Finalist and a Science Fair Winner, Nate took numerous Advanced Placement courses, excelling in a variety of subjects. Beyond the classroom, Nate recognizes the influence Academy had on his communication skills, “Graduates come out of Academy with the skills to communicate with others and an interest to do so.” Nate’s desire to build relationships is reflected in his service to school. A Student Ambassador and National Honor Society, Eco Club and Blue Crew member, Nate enthusiastically supported food and clothing drives, spirit weeks, and fundraising for non-profit organizations. Beyond his academic success and commitment to community, Nate is a dedicated athlete; his list of athletic accomplishments is long: in track, a four-time District Champion, a 3-time Regional Winner, and a 2nd place finisher at State in the 200 meters. In swimming, a 7-time District Winner, a 2-time Regional Winner, and a Top 8 finisher at State. And, at graduation, he was recognized as Academy’s Athlete of the Year. Reflecting on his time at Academy, Nate’s favorite memories are the trips he took with his classmates such as the eighth grade and senior trips. Nate shares, “I was able to maintain meaningful connections throughout my time at Academy.” We know he’ll continue to do the same in his next chapter at the University of Florida! #youmatterhere #youstillmatterhere #uftrack #UniversityOfFlorida #districtchampion #regionalchampionships #track #swimming ...
